A Long Time Coming

Hello dear friends,

I thought I would take a few minutes and share a few things that have been on my heart for a very long time.

This could be a tedious task so I will try and make it as brief as possible.

I wish to start with a simple verse of scripture that has ministered to me over the years. Our verse(s) are found in the book of Romans ch.14:  ”

Romans 14

1Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

And here is what I want to say: Some times we just simply need to grow up in our dealings with others as we try to present the truth of the Word God.

I am not talking about false doctrine or the essentials of the faith here; I am speaking about living for God on a daily basis and all of us being ” in process” as we serve the Lord in spirit and truth. I am talking about the non essentials. I choose not to give you a list of them because that too can be turned into a law if we are not careful. But my point is, I get greatly grieved by ” both sides of the coin” when I see FB attacks going on and it gets very personal.

I have seen people jumped on if they even mention fasting or prayer; or half a thousand other things we could name. Listen, I firmly believe that NONE of these things can add one bit of righteousness or holiness to us. But they DO have a scriptural place and function. And, if someone does not understand the truth about this; there are ways of presenting it to them in a “Christ-Like” manner. Name calling, badgering, even outright slander is no way to win them over or convince them of the truth of our message. My Daddy taught me young in life that I do not always have to have the last word on everything. We say that man cannot convict and that is true and then we turn right around sometimes and try to force it on people who truly are open to it, if only we would give them a little time and PRAY for them. Do we sometimes try to be the Holy Spirit in each other lives by being overbearing with them?  Just a thought.

And then, there are those who, if you disagree with them on the smallest matter they resort to calling you names. I am speaking to all of us who claim this great message of the Cross. You know, I expect flack from the word of faith crowd and other false doctrine adherants. But it is sad when we within the message of the cross turn on each other over small things. Or even over the transition process from law to grace itself. People please, do not grow angry with me on this; just understand that we all need grace and the help of the Holy Spirit everyday. None of us are perfect or without faults. Show each other the same concern and consideration you would like to be shown.

I have my own beliefs about many subjects that are not essentials to the salvation of the sinner or the sanctification of the saint and from time to time I will share them in one manner or another. But I do not wish to force those on any of you. If I do not like a TV show, I simply turn the channel and watch something else. Again, and please hear me clearly, I am not talking about false doctrine such as word of faith etc…  I am speaking about TV shows, music, and things that are non essential. Also there are flat out certain TV and music that a child of God Should not listen too or watch. Period. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know which those are.  Once, I was attacked because I liked the Christian music group “Harvest” and you know what;  I do not really give a rip what anyone thinks. Their words are clearly about Jesus and I know them personally, having worked with them for years and IT IS BETWEEN ME AND GOD. At the same time, if you are a believer who is watching porno and listening to music about murder, sex, and mayhem: then You need to Repent and be delivered.

I plan to spend no more time dealing with foolishness like this as it regards the people of God doing battle with each other. I believe the message of the Cross; I am growing in the message of the Cross, and I wish to busy myself proclaiming the message of the cross. How you want to wear your hair is up to you. I have nothing to say about it. How you want your house to be painted concerns me not at all.

I will continue to come against the false doctrine so prevalent in the Church world today.. I am very vocal on that and will continue to be. My plans are to keep on lifting up Jesus Christ and Him crucified to a lost and dying world, as well as to a church in bondage to the sin nature.

As to the new blog that God has lead us to put together; I will be putting writers on there who preach the message of the cross and have a word from the Lord. If you do not like a particular author, please do not discard the entire blog; just move on to another article. I cannot respond to endless disputings and needless quarrelings. I simply won’t.

We are not there to correct one another in a confrontational style: we are there to learn from the Holy Spirit as He speaks through our brothers and sisters. Please be kind even in your rebuke. Please try to avoid misunderstandings and handle them privately when at all possible.

I truly hope that you have heard my heart today. I pray that I do not lose friends over this. But whatever you decide to do with me; Remember to keep preaching Christ and Him Crucified.

I truly love all of you in Jesus Christ,

Len Paxton
