Prayer can be a matter of life and death.

If the Holy Spirit prompts you to pray for someone, please be quick to do so. It may be a matter of life and death……..

When Dr. Lester Sumrall was a young missionary, he once fell off his mule while traveling over the mountains of Tibet. He was the last mule in the mule train so no one even noticed when he became ill and fell off his mule. Dr. Sumrall fell unconscious, realizing that he was dying.

After several hours, he woke up feeling refreshed and healed. But by now the rest of the mule train were long gone and Brother Sumrall had no idea which trail to take. There were many trails to choose from so he got back on his mule and amazingly came to the camp where the rest of the team lodged for the night.

A year later, Lester Sumrall was back in the United States , preaching at a local church. He met a little praying lady who opened her prayer diary and asked brother Sumrall what he was doing at a certain time, the same time that brother Sumrall had fallen from the mule .  She had written in her prayer book that God awakened her and told her “Pray: Lester Sumrall is dying.”  She was obedient to pray and Lester Sumralls life was spared. Prayer can mean the difference between life and death…

James 5:16   Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Acts 4:24-33

24And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

25Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

26The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

27For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

28For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

29And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

John 14:12-14

12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

When your faith is exclusively in the finished work of Christ upon the Cross, prayer will no longer be a chore but rather, a joy. The Holy Spirit will move on you to pray for the needs of others. The same faith in the finished work of Christ on the Cross that will produce the leading of the Holy Spirit will also give you the grace that will enable you to obey His promptings……….

God delights in answering prayer…………..
