Numbers 11:20 They despised the manna & wanted meat to eat…

When Israel Murmured for bread… Ex. 16:2-3

Numbers 21:5-6 They spoke against God-They wanted bread. But when God gave them bread, they complained & then they wanted meat. They despised the manna. People are not happy with the provision that God has provided.

Manna means “what is it?”, How?, Why? What? When?, How long?, what so ever, whereby, wherefore…

Ex 16:15 and when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another it is manna: for they wist not what is was. And Moses said unto them, this is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.

Jimmy Swaggart’s Expositor study bible says, “the manna was so precious that it could not bear contact with the earth. It fell upon the dew & had to be gathered before the sun came up. This teaches us that yesterday’s blessings will not do for today, nor today’s for tomorrow. Thus must the christian feed upon Christ daily as He reveals Himself in the scriptures.”

Deut. 8:16-18 Who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers knew not, that He might humble you, and that He might prove you, to do you good at your latter end; and you say in your heart, my power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth. But you shall remember the Lord your God: for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto your fathers, as it is this day. (Williams says, “they were to be watchful lest prosperity caused them to forget the redeemer who delivered them from bondage of Egypt; & they were to guard against thinking their posterity was due to their own intelligence & power.

Neh. 9:20 you gave also your good spirit to instruct them & with held not your manna from their mouth, & gave them water for their thirst.

Food miraculously provided by God

Rev. 2:17 To Him that overcometh, I will give to eat of the hidden manna…

John 6:31 (the manna represents Jesus)

They wanted the flesh (meat) more than the manna. They rejected Jesus. Who so every rejects Jesus will die as the children of Israel died when they  ate the quail that replaced the manna.

Anytime you say the manna (Jesus) is not enough you grieve God. If you look to anything or anyone else but Jesus you cut off the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

They questioned Jesus too:
What manner of man is this? (Matt. 8:27)
How can a man speak like this? (Jn. 7:46, they questioned how could He speak like this as He was unlearned as far as they were concerned)

John 6:41 The Jews murmured at Him. They did this a lot. Just as they did in the Old Testament.

They did not understand who or what He was.

They rejected Him, just as they did the manna in the Old Testament. Still today people are rejecting Him.

The final blow was when they cried our “Give us Barabbas”
Oh just like, “Give us meat (flesh)”…

God did not withhold His blessings. He did not hold back His plan for redemption even though they rebelled. (Rom. 5:8 But God commendeth His love towards us in that, while we were sinners Christ died for us.)

He has supplied you this day the bread of Life. You have a choice, you can eat the meat and die or receive the bread of life and live. You Choose!!
