Mark 9:38-40 (AMP)
38 John said to Him, Teacher, we saw a man who does not follow along with us driving out demons in Your name, and we forbade him to do it, because he is not one of our band [of Your disciples].
39 But Jesus said, Do not restrain or hinder or forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in My name will soon afterward be able to speak evil of Me.
40 For he who is not against us is for us.

I was reading today and came across this scripture. It caused me to think about some things. So I embarked upon a little study. I read several Greek commentaries, several translations plus their notes, thought some more on it – then read some more on it. In plain English John said – ” Hey he ain’t with us ( Texas translation) so we told him hey stop it” Jesus said ” Forbid him not – Wuest Word studies / Greek New Testament says it this way -” But Jesus said , Stop forbidding him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle upon the basis of my Name who will also soon be able to speak ill of Me, for whoever is not against us is in behalf of us “. One writers notes says -” In general, anyone or any doctrine that denies a personal God, the Holy Spirit, the incarnation of Christ, the virgin birth, Jesus’ sinless life, His claims of who He was, His death and resurrection, His exaltation to Kingship – the Blood, certainly is not God ” So this of course takes care of false doctrine and teachers. So I’m not addressing that issue thats a settled question.
The issue was John’s statement – ” The guy ain’t right he don’t hang with us” Amazing isn’t it? Now we see this same attitude later on in the Church :

1 Corinthians 3:1-9 (AMP)
1 HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!]
2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it],
3 For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?
4 For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [proving yourselves] ordinary (unchanged) men?
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Ministering servants [not heads of parties] through whom you believed, even as the Lord appointed to each his task:
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [He] gave the increase.
7 So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [only] God Who makes it grow and become greater.
8 He who plants and he who waters are equal (one in aim, of the same importance and esteem), yet each shall receive his own reward (wages), according to his own labor.
9 For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God’s building.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Paul’s reaction – ” I’m glad I didn’t dunk any of you !” ( I Cor. 1 :10-14 )
1 Corinthians 3:21 (AMP)
21 So let no one exult proudly concerning men [boasting of having this or that man as a leader], for all things are yours,

So what we see happening here is what I call ” ITEISM” Terrible disease. You see Israel fought against many ” ites” . We in the Church today see this same thing. ( Please see my previous note on ” Ours is the Only Camp” This disease has grown more viral – it fosters division, strife, quarrels, envy etc. These things ought not to be spoke of concerning the Body. I’m a __________ite – no one teaches the truth but ____________ and that’s what I believe. Would Paul call us babies ? I think so. Not too long ago I went with a friend of mine to visit a place where a man was used of God. At one time God anointed him wonderfully and I remember him coming to our Church when I was a small boy. He has been deceased for decades. Now I DO NOT question that God used him, I hear that later on in life He began to get off course in his teaching. I’m not his judge and that is between him and God. I still respect God used him. My point is years later since his passing some still follow his teachings as the ” only” message. There is no further revelation. So there they sit clinging and not going forward in the things of God.
Why are you saying this Dennis? Honestly the pride and arrogance that has crept in with the attitude of ” ites” has to make our Heavenly Father highly displeased! It stinks in His nostrils. It doen’t build up the Body it divides it. When a person or group begins to think and say ” WE ARE THE ONLY ONES” – they have already begun to miss the mark. It is the same attitude and thoughts of the Pharisees and Scribes. My goodness if Paul ( who wrote 2/3 of the New Testament said ” I have not arrived” — I ask them” Who do you think you are? ” No one can hear you because just like a skunk your smell alerts everyone of your presence and flees. This stuff has got to STOP! How are we going to reach the world with attitudes like this being bantered and tolerated in the Body of Christ ? I am so tired of some of the pompous, bigoted, prideful, arrogant, buffoonery we see going on.

Again I’m not talking about good , solid, Biblical truths – the foundational truths of the Gospel. I’m speaking of this demonic divisive spirit that has invaded the Church. Don’t be guilty of it!!!!!!!!

Let’s not let this be named among the Body of Christ!
Be Blessed > Dennis

Okay I’m sure the title probably got your attention. I know this will probably irritate quite a few but oh well. First let me share a scripture.
Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJV)
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

There is one word here we will look at : madown) :- discord, strife.taken from maw-dohn – a contest or quarrel :- brawling, contention (-ous), discord, strife. Notice this includes the idea of quarrelling.

I think one of the most demonically inspired things to come into the Body of Christ is this division idea. Hence our ” Camp”. Have you been asked that? What ” Camp” are you in? Or what ” bunch” are they a part of ? When someone says ” What are you ? I usually reply ” A Christian” and I attend at this meeting place. May I show you some of the stupidness behind this? I will name the ” Camp ” and make a point:
Word of Faith – Those faith people! > Duh everything you obtain from God is by FAITH! HELLO! So yes I’m a Word of Faith guy. You can’t even be saved without faith. Now if your talking about some particular teaching then address that . Every ” Camp ” I know of probably has something that needs to be addressed. I have faith in the faithfulness of God!
Cross Camp – Well guilty here too. I preach the Cross as well. I believe everything that we needed was provided at the Cross and Resurrection. You have to have both ! I may not preach it exactly as you do but I do preach it because the Cross is essential! Everything we have is because of the Cross. The power of the Cross is without measure.
Prophetic Camp – Goodness guilty here too. I believe in the Prophetic as guided by the Holy Spirit. However I don’t run around chasing conference after conference and whatever I do hear it is always held up to the scrutiny of the Word test. If it doesn’t line up with the whole counsel of God – forget it . I don’t care who says it.

Full Gospel Camp – Uh oh – guilty here too. Been raised in it all my life. I believe ALL the Gifts of the Spirit are still available today for the Church. I do not believe in cessation! The main reason is the Church’s mission isn’t over! If ever we needed the Gifts to operate it is now! Under the direction of the Holy Spirit!I certainly seek to be used by God in this way and minister in the Gifts when so directed.
Prosperity Camp – Geesh guilty here too. I have this idea God wants me blessed so that I can be a blessing and channel to others. Now do I think that means a Mercedes in every driveway – four homes – vacation retreats and yachts – NO! I just don’t think God wants me to barely exist – always struggle – and not be able to help others. So yes I believe in being prosperous to be a blessing not satisfy the need for things and bling!
KJV Translation Camp – Well oh no guilty here. Bless God if it was good enough for the Apostle Paul it’s good enough for me. I personally love the language of the King James Version and usually use it when speaking. However I like my “Amplified Bible” and one I have that has 26 different translations in it as well such as Beck, Phillips, Moffett, etc. I have Greek and Hebrew study bibles etc. I am for any tool that will help with clarity as long as there is no messing with the true message of the Word.
Holiness Camp – Guilty! It is mandatory! Now if you mean by that do I believe in certain rules and regulations? I must ask what is your definition of Holiness? What you wear or don’t wear? Whether you have a tv or not ? Etc , etc. Holiness is this – the character and nature of God worked into your life by the Spirit of God with the fruit of that being evident to all.
I could go on and on about different ” Camps ” . Personally I’m tired of the Bickering and Elitest mentality. I’m sure God is. Here is a novel approach – let’s try this –
Army of the Lord Camp – Yep – I like it. Thats where I am going to ” Camp” . Being born again by the Spirit of God- filled with the Holy Spirit – preaching Jesus and Him crucified so that others might be saved to walk in newness of life, translated from the kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light – to move under the direction of the Holy Spirit – allowing the Word and the Holy Spirit to transform me into ” Christlikeness” – so that I may mature in Him and fulfill my place and function in the Body of Christ- so that His anointing may flow through my life so that I may help others to be delivered from the bondages of the enemy. To walk in obedience to the voice of the Lord of Host – to the best of my ability hear His commands and be willing to obey whatever the price so that I may please Him and see Him exalted in the earth. That’s my ” Camp ” – I believe it’s called ” Christian ” :0)
Be Blessed!> Dennis

No man is an island is the old saying . No one – let me repeat no one can accomplish their purpose , vision or calling alone. Everyone needs others. Businesses needs customers – teachers need students – children need parents ( regardless of their opinion :0) – marriage takes two – etc , etc. Even in the Body of Christ we need each other. It is no different. We have need of each other. That is why the scripture uses the analogy of a Body. Each joint supplieth the other joint to form a whole. What good are feet without legs? You may be the best foot in the universe – your toes exquisite beyond compare – yet if not attached to legs guess what – your going nowhere! So says the leg – I’m the most important – yep feet your okay but without me baby it ain’t happening – so now we have an attitude to appear. To top it off they may not be the best set of legs out there :0) They may not stack up well with those like ” Betty Grable ” fame of old. I think you understand the point.

Now why am I sharing this ? Most of us ; especially in ministry need others or ” partners ” to help us achieve what God wants us to achieve. Relax this is not a plea for Partners :0) What I am saying is sometimes we need to step back and look at who may be trying to ” Partner ” with us. This is critical! I ran across this today and thought it may help you. It helps to cut through the murkiness sometime :

King Solomon gave us seven red flags to watch out for in Proverbs :
1. Lack of integrity ( Prov. 29:24)
2. Quick- tempered or deep seated anger ( Prov. 22:24)
3. Pattern of foolish behavior ( Prov. 14:7)
4. Anyone who offers a lot for a little, or quick riches ( Prov. 25:19,28:22)
5. Excessive use of flattery ( especially to ingratiate you to them) ( Prov. 29:5)
6. Inclination to gossip or exaggerate ( Prov. 20:19)
7. A disregard for rules, regulations, laws or personal boundaries ( Prov. 28:7)

Who am I to argue with King Solomon? Hope it gives you something to ponder :0)
Be Blessed > Dennis

Hello my friends: Now that I have your attention – let me share a thought with you> Now in this great hour of enlightenment and great prophetic insight and knowledge I would like to offer a bit of insight if I may.
A wise man once said that our habits form our character. It is in the daily routines of life that habits are made. Our habits are key to our success. Habits therefore can come from discipline or lack of . Yes you are a creature of habit!

Now why am I talking of this? Well – in this hour we have many who are seeking to be used of God. They want to be greatly used and have keen spiritual insight. They want to climb mountains-  claim countries- cast  out every demon- tear down strongholds- kick the devil – etc etc etc. These are great and noble things.

However :
Remember it’s in the “little things” . In the military they teach you how they want the bed made- your socks folded- your trunk arranged. That’s a little thing! What has the folding of my socks got to do with the war and fighting the enemy. It’s discipline and order.
Now here is my point- until your ordered and disciplined your not ready. Some people want to be out there in the battle but they aren’t disciplined at home. I once had a great man of God tell me in Bible College (C.B. Anderson) “You will never be too anointed to use a broom and mop “. What I gasped? I learned then that it’s in the little things. Some want to be out tearing up the Kingdom of Darkness and they aren’t disciplined enough to take care of what God has entrusted them with. ( They are too “anointed” to clean their house, wash dishes, fold clothes, etc. )
Now here is my main point. I have noticed the habits of people in a new way lately. Especially this time of the year. PEOPLE ARE LAZY!. How do I know? Next time your shopping look around you. Someone left diapers in the hardware, milk left in the boy’s dept. Ladies wear is in Electronics and so forth and so forth. This is laziness.
Now I want to encourage you – don’t be lazy this year. Don’t be undisciplined! If your at the store and don’t need something. Put it back where it goes – sure it might take a few minutes but it’s right. Whether you realize it or not your creating more work for people because of being lazy. That’s right!! Don’t try to excuse it. If your not disciplined enough to do that your not ready for “front line” warfare. It is amazing to observe this – we as Christians must seek to excel in all areas. Would you like it if people came to your house and just pulled stuff out and left things everywhere?
So I hope this gives you some enlightment – to help you on your journey of life – If you can’t be disciplined enough to do the little things then don’t be concerned about warfare right now – you will probably get hurt. Have a wonderful day:0)

1 Chronicles 12:31-32 (KJV)
31 And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.
32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

One thing I find so compelling in this passage is though David had already been Anointed and Appointed by God to be King – God felt the necessity to surround David with certain men. It is stated that these children of Issachar : ” understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do” . I liken these to Watchmen on the wall. As we all understand the duties of the Watchmen were to be alert and watch beyond the walls of the city to observe upon the horizon any threats to the city. It was a very critical thing to the welfare of the city.
I think in this hour we must have the same thing active in the Body of Christ. Certainly our King knows all and does not need our input – but the need of the Watchmen still exists. I’m not talking about a police action of being the judge over everything – I’m talking about the military necessity of sentries if you will – those on alert to detect and watch for activity.A Watchman reports what he sees – not what he desires.
We must understand the times!!!!!! I think no one can argue the point there is a shaking occuring both in the natural realm and spiritual realm. I for one stand alarmed at things I see in our Nation ( on all levels) and things in the Church – the Body of Christ! I would like to urge you to maybe revisit some of the things I list below :

The Vision – David Wilkerson / When a Nation forgets God – Erwin Lutzer / Crumbling Foundations – Donald Bloesch
A quote from Bloesch – ” with the crumbling of the institutional churches and the shaking of the foundations of western culture, a new church will emerge – purified of cultural accretions and equipped to do battle with the principalities and powers of our day”. I find this to be a quote that begs for us to ponder and think on.
Some other things to consider I suggest you read the following articles in the January issue of Charisma magazine :
12 trends to watch in 2012 – J. Lee Grady ( also read his article Fire in Bones – A Word for the Grand Poobah – excellent but that’s another subject)
2012 America’s Final Warning – Messianic Rabbi Johnathan Cahn ( Also author of a new book Harbinger – which I will soon read)
Another article worth reading is : billcloudblog.com / The American (Un)Civil War
I’m not saying you have to agree with everything in the above list. I am just saying a lot of it resonates within my spirit and heart and has for the last two years. I am not proclaiming anything about some mantle upon my shoulders I am sharing as a fellow soldier – sharing my heart.
The SOUND OF WAR – over the last two years has been burning with ever increasing clarity in my spirit. Resounding with a call for the WARRIORS in the ARMY of the LORD to arise with a new passion and purpose. Our only motive – passion-purpose should be that the desires of our King come to pass!

I leave you with this thought – Be Alert : Watch: for the enemy is rattling his weapons of warfare with increased intensity and boldness – the clash of the kingdoms is escalating – Our King summons us with a call we must answer – Our King shall prevail!
Be Blessed > Dennis

RELEVANT :
a : having significant and demonstrable bearing on the matter at hand b : affording evidence tending to prove or disprove the matter at issue or under discussion relevant testimony> c : having social relevance

Today as I was mowing the lawn trying to beat the heat of the day I was reflecting upon a certain thought. ” What makes a ” relevant” church? Meditating upon this I began to ask the Lord for a little clarity, figuring that He is the Lord of the Church He would have more insight into it.:0)
First He had me think about the issues of the day at that time and how they pertain to us. Were people needing redemption? Yes! Was there sickness and disease? Yes! Were times difficult economically? Yes! Was government an issue? Certainly! Rome was in power and taxes were not easier then. Were there false religions and other idealologies being taught? Was there the influence of the culture and times? Definitely!
So pondering this I began to see that again ” nothing is new ” on this earth. We face the same things today that faced the early church. Then I simply asked the Lord – Okay if the conditions were the same – what was the difference that caused 3,000 to be saved in one day? I thought about was the ” message ” relevant for that hour? I thought about what has been going on in this hour we live in that has been heralded as making the ” Church ” relevant. Here are a few of my observations that you may or may not agree with. I think the key may be found in this verse:

Acts 4:13 (AMP)
13 Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

What is the key ? > ” They had been with Jesus ”
Making the “Church” relevant in this hour I feel is not : acting like the world, dressing like the world, smelling like the world, with an all inclusive attitude of compromise. It is not a watering down of the “Gospel” to a mere enjoyable pablum to try to make it acceptable to a society that sneers in the face of God. A gospel without the ” Cross” or the “blood” or that wants to tickle the ears of the people in a vain attempt to try to make it “appealing ” to the masses. Trying to run the Church in a way that appeals to the minds and appetites of the people. Letting the culture drive the “church” instead of the “church” impacting the culture. In a pleasure driven and entertain me society we have been so controlled by an attitude of compromise and lets not offend anyone mentality that we have become anemic in conqueroring the darkness.
So I believe again the key is – ” they had been with Jesus” When once again from the pulpits rings out sound doctrine and truth spoken by men or women in an uncompromising message that comes from being in the presence of God- messages that speak of mercy, love, forgiveness, grace- yet dare to speak the whole counsel of God concerning holiness, honor, integrity, committment, discipleship. That once again declare the laying down of one”s life to follow Him no matter the cost – messages that declare the Lordship of Jesus – that does demand and challenge people to chase after a life that is pleasing to the Father in every area.
When once again men or women stand in the pulpit not as celebrities, or hirelings but come from the presence of God with a burning message from Him that compels them with the heart of a servant to declare it and see the needs of people being met. Not being driven by the pursuit of fame or building their kingdom but seek only to see the name of Jesus exalted in every way.Men and women empowered by the Spirit of God that flow in the Spirit with a sensitivity and compassion. Voices in this hour instead of mere parrots who seek to regurgitate some self help mumbo jumbo or their “too much pizza” dreams and visions. Give us men and women who burn with the compelling message of Jesus and His Lordship.

How do we make the Church ” RELEVANT “? Let those within the midst of it burn with a HOLY zeal and passion to see Jesus exalted in this hour and seek to live in pursuit of Him with an appetite that is ravenous. To come forth out of His presence with the anointing of God to break the chains of darkness , I believe when the world can look at us and say ” they have been with Jesus” we will be ” Relevant”
Just a thought – Be Blessed

First let’s begin with the proper definition:

doc·trine

 /ˈdɒktrɪn/ Show Spelled[dok-trin]–noun
1.
a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated, as of a religion or government .
2.
something that is taught; teachings collectively: religious doctrine.
3.
a body or system of teachings relating to a particular subject: .
According to my count the word doctrine is used over 40 times in the Bible. It can mean fair speech, teaching, speech, talk, report, utterance. Therefore over all we see or can come to the conclusion that it is a speaking forth of a teaching.
Now Jesus taught doctrine:Matt. 7:28,22:33/ Mark 1:27, 4:2, 11:18,12:38,Luke 4:32/ John 7:16,17,19
In verse 16 of John 7 Jesus said His doctrine ( instruction) was not His own but from the Father. Hence doctrine was birthed of God.
The Apostles taught doctrine: Acts 2:42,5:28.13:12,17:19, / Romans 6:17, 16:17/ I Cor.14:6,26 – So we see the Apostles ( who were men by the way) taught, instructed, spoke doctrine.

Doctrine can be good : They referred to it as “sound doctrine” – that word meaning whole, safe, wholesome.I Tim.1:10,4:6,13,16/ 5:17/ 6:3 II Tim.3:16, 4:2,3 / Titus 1:9
Doctrine can be bad :II Tim.4:3/ II John 1:10 / Rev.2:14,15,/ I Tim.4:1, Heb.13:9 – So we can see that some doctrines, teachings, ideas are not in line with God’s Word and some have a demonic influence behind them. (II John 1:10)
Whats my point? Doctrine is not a bad word that needs to be expunged from our vocabulary as Believers. Doctrines are foundational in beliefs as Christians. I get so amused at some of the psuedo, enlightened, self scholars,( especially on FB) who espouse their “doctrine” of no doctrine. Yes if they are teaching it, speaking it, whatever they are speaking forth a doctrine. Ironic isn’t it?
I’m sorry but we need doctrine in the Body of Christ. Granted some of what has been taught is wrong – why because man is involved. Here is a revelation for you – no one- no one has it all right. We all are growing, learning, moving from precept to precept. The key is to find a good, sound, place that teaches the founding truths ( doctrines), the fundamental, foundational truths of God’s Word without apology or compromise.
So please- quit attacking the idea of Doctrine. Your wrong! Guess what – being saved by the blood of Jesus is a doctrine in the Christian faith.( Sorry to burst your psuedo enlightenment bubble)

2 John 1:9-11 (AMP)
9 Anyone who runs on ahead [of God] and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ [who is not content with what He taught] does not have God; but he who continues to live in the doctrine (teaching) of Christ [does have God], he has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine [is disloyal to what Jesus Christ taught], do not receive him [do not accept him, do not welcome or admit him] into [your] house or bid him Godspeed or give him any encouragement.
11 For he who wishes him success [who encourages him, wishing him Godspeed] is a partaker in his evil doings.
Galatians 1:8-9 (AMP)
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!
9 As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!
In Revelation God went so far as to say he hated ( detested ) the doctrine of the Nicolatians – interpreted it means He was not pleased.
Revelation 2:6 (AMP)
6 Yet you have this [in your favor and to your credit]: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans [what they are doing as corrupters of the people], which I Myself also detest.

Revelation 2:14-15 (AMP)
14 Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: you have some people there who are clinging to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to set a trap and a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, [to entice them] to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols and to practice lewdness [giving themselves up to sexual vice].
15 You also have some who in a similar way are clinging to the teaching of the Nicolaitans [those corrupters of the people] which thing I hate.

Revelation 2:20-23 (AMP)
20 But I have this against you: that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess [claiming to be inspired], and who is teaching and leading astray my servants and beguiling them into practicing sexual vice and eating food sacrificed to idols.
21 I gave her time to repent, but she has no desire to repent of her immorality [symbolic of idolatry] and refuses to do so.
22 Take note: I will throw her on a bed [of anguish], and those who commit adultery with her [her paramours] I will bring down to pressing distress and severe affliction, unless they turn away their minds from conduct [such as] hers and repent of their doings.
23 And I will strike her children (her proper followers) dead [thoroughly exterminating them]. And all the assemblies (churches) shall recognize and understand that I am He Who searches minds (the thoughts, feelings, and purposes) and the [inmost] hearts, and I will give to each of you [the reward for what you have done] as your work deserves.

God my friend does NOT TOLERATE false doctrine, teaching, instruction. Take heed to who and what you listen to.Let him that hath ears to hear – let him hear.

So my friend be not afraid of the word doctrine —– it is not a dirty word. One of the problems today is people going around spouting unsound doctrine and ideas that DO NOT line up the Truth of God’s Word.
So let us strive to have sound doctrine in our lives!

My friends it has been awhile since I wrote a note but I have been thinking so I thought I would share some of my thoughts. Lets look at a scripture :

” Thus says the Lord: Stand by the roads and look; and ask eternal paths, where the good, old way is;then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But they said , We will not walk in it!” Jer. 6:16 amp.

Now I certainly don’t want to miss anything that God is doing in this hour. I certainly don’t think things should stagnate.Certainly there are shiftings and changing that will occur in the Body of Christ and I try to stay sensitive to the Spirit of God. My greatest fear ( yes I said it ) is missing God in any area of my life. Notice however the people responded by saying > ” we will not walk in it” .

However there are some ” old fashioned ” things I miss :

Like services where the power of the Holy Spirit would move and people would weep their way to the altar and let the Spirit do a deep work in their lives. Transforming their natures more into the image of Jesus.

Services where the Word was preached without compromise and it would penetrate into the hearts of people causing them to look at their lives and see the need of change instead of watered down, make me feel good messages. The intent being to soothe the ears of people and not offend them. To help them stay so self centered. Goodness we might make somebody upset.

Revivals that were rooted in a deep move of God. Why they could last for days and the clock wasn’t the controlling factor and schedules were interrupted. Now people are upset if the service last longer than they think it should cause they are ” busy”.

The times when people wanted to be grounded in good solid biblical foundations. They wanted to know the foundational principles that would cause them to be solid in their beliefs instead of trying to always hear ” the latest thing” yet by their very actions they prove they do not understand basic things. Doctrine and theology are not bad words.

Remember when Ministers cared for the needs of people? They were driven with a passion to see the needs of their flock being met. They weren’t there to be served but to serve. They weren’t motivated with the idea of ” just what can they do for me and my church to put me on the map? ” There concern was ” How can they feed my people – and bless the people?”

Or we didn’t have so blatant hirelings who expect to be treated like ” movie stars ” with all their petty self-serving needs and their entourage to follow them. Those who seek to just fill their pockets and justify it .

Remember when sin was sin? Not ” issues” or just ” problems” . Remember how when you realized your sin broke the heart of the Father it broke your heart? Now days it is justified in some form or fashion.

Remember when people ” feared ” the Lord? Now days we see a total lack of this in the Body. It shall return though!

I still think Sanctification is still a process we must go through. Holiness wasn’t considered a bad thing or bondage in any way. There was a time when people sought it with fervency.

Remember when worship was about exalting Jesus? Excuse me but I don’t understand the need of throwing away hymns of the past. They had some strong content and theology in them. Yes some were not but Amazing Grace or How Firm a Foundation or Blessed Assurance still move me. I enjoy some of the ” new ” worship but I find some of it cold and lifeless and lacking in exalting Jesus.

Remember when Truth was not relevant? It was founded on biblical principles and adhered to. It wasn’t twisted to fit a certain viewpoint.

These are just a few things I have thought on. My children used to laugh at me when we would be driving and I would see a 57 Chevy or 63 Thunderbird and say ( before I could say it ) they would say , We know its a classic! Well I think these things I said above are some classic things we should still appreciate.

Yes let’s be swift to follow God and yet let’s not leave everything behind. Yes the Lord is doing ” a new thing” but notice both of these were written by Jeremiah . I am thoroughly convinced these are matters of the heart.

Thanks for listening to this “old guy ” Be Blessed!

Colossians 2:16-17 (AMP)

16 Therefore let no one sit in judgment on you in matters of food and drink, or with regard to a feast day or a New Moon or a Sabbath.

17 Such [things] are only the shadow of things that are to come, and they have only a symbolic value. But the reality (the substance, the solid fact of what is foreshadowed, the body of it) belongs to Christ.

I would like to share a thought with you. Let’s say you come to my house. While you are there I begin to go into my ” love my wife routine”. As you watch I wander from room to room kissing each of her photographs, then I move to her closest and weep as I smell her clothing and the lingering smell of her perfume. Then I grab cds and old vhs tapes and play them – every time she appears on the screen I sigh, touch the screen, and even kiss the screen. Then I pull out old love letters and weep. Now if the situation was she had maybe died then you might could overlook my bizarre actions and say I was overcome with grief. However the whole time you have been watching you realize my wife is sitting in her chair no more than ten feet from me. Now – you just think my bread is not baked!

What is the point? Simply this. I love to study types and shadows in the Old Testament. It is a beautiful study and uncovers many beautiful gems of truth. The Feasts are another wonderful study and as well hold wonderful truths. So do not at any time think I don’t think they are a wonderful thing. The study of the Tabernacle is awesome as well. However!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never lose sight of this truth – everything in the Old Testament points towards Jesus / everything in the New Testament is because of Jesus!!!! He is the focal point! He is the center of God’s plan.It is He that is to be exalted. His name magnified!.

There seems so many in this hour who want to embrace the picture than embrace Him. Let me explain – I’m not an Israeli, I was born in Louisiania. Nor am I a “Jew” which was a term derived from the tribe of Judah not every Israeli.A good example – when people say someone is “bushhogging” they usually refer to the tractor they see pulling a rotary mower. Bushhog was a brand. Every major tractor company makes a rotary mower which is what a “Bushhog” is.So “Jew” has become a generic term. I was not raised in a Jewish culture – I was raised in an American culture if you will southern at that.I understand the Lord’s hand on the nation of Israel and before you jump on your fiery mountain to yell at me-I pray for the peace of Israel. The point is – we do not need to mix Judaism with Christianity. We are under a NEW COVENANT – everything pointed to what we walk in as Believers in Christ. So many seem caught up and embracing the Types that they lose focus on the one they pointed to. We don’t need half OT-half NT!.Thank God for the beauty of it in the Old Testament but we are to walk in the reality which is Jesus. Let’s take the Sabbath – some get so caught up in the “right” day. Saturday or Sunday. Man was never to be in bondage to the Sabbath. It was made for man. Even further Jesus is the fulfillment of the Sabbath. We rest in HIM and what He accomplished through the cross.

Some I know have gone so far that though they were born in America – they have never been to Israel nor is there any Israeli blood in their whole family tree – they can’t say Jesus anymore it must be Yeshua now.Can we get real for a moment? Again is it necessary to so embrace the types that we start veering off course. Some will be upset at what I’m saying cause they have so embraced the types and pictures that they lose sight of HIM!

When Jesus was on the mount of transfiguration , two others came Moses and Elijah. It said they conversed with Him. Now the disciples seeing this got all excited and wanted to start the “New” thing – THE CHURCH OF THE 3 TEMPLES!Yep

one for Jesus, Moses and Elijah. ( Reminds me of people today) All of a sudden Moses and Elijah were gone. Then the voice from heaven said- THIS IS MY SON – HEAR YE HIM! Now again – I’m not attacking Israel nor down playing it’s part in God’s plan. Jesus is the focal point now! The Body of Christ is now! I don’t need to stand at the Wailing Wall – I have access to the throne. I don’t worship the nation of Israel – I worship God and His Son the Lord Jesus! He is the Messiah!

He is the one the types and shadows spoke of and pointed to.

While we study and learn all the beauty we can from the Word , Old and New Testament alike let us not lose our focus!IT IS HIM! So – instead of running after the things about Him – EMBRACE HIM! Besides – I would much rather kiss my wife than her picture :0)

Just some thoughts I wanted to share – Be Blessed! > Dennis
